Friday Favourites: The One With The Pool

Friday Favourites Pool>> FRIDAY FAVOURITES LINK UP BELOW <<

Well after my post about Paying Attention At The Pools, I felt utterly reassured with my actions.  I don’t feel guilty anymore.  I was there, I pulled my boy out of what could have been a disastrous situation – he could have drowned.

I also stuck to my guns, and when my girl didn’t listen, we packed everything up and left.  I may have to do this a couple more times for her to realise I mean business.  Which is a surprise, because I’m always one to stick to my word.

I didn’t even wait for my kids to get changed.  I bundled them up in towels and quickly exited stage left.

On the way home, my girl SCREAMED for an ice cream.  And when I told her we weren’t having one, she said “but I’m not crying anymore”.

I said “It’s not about crying, it’s about listening.  You didn’t listen to me.  If you listen next time, then we will get an ice cream” … I think she heard me.  Although, with any child, repetition is key.  So I know I will have to repeat myself.

I just want to thank you all for reading my post, and responding the way you did.  Overwhelming support.  I think it’s amazing.

I even had a couple of lifeguards message me saying how important it was to drive that particular message home: ALWAYS pay attention to your kids when you’re in the pool.

Don’t risk it.  Don’t go on your phone.  The only time I go on my phone is to take a photo, and even then it’s hard because it involves me taking my eyes off the kids for a split second – and we all know that anything can happen in a split second.

So listen to my advice – turn off the device for 30 minutes.  It’s not the end of the world.  Life will continue after swimming 😂
