This week I have been a crazy lady. Like TRULY certifiable.
I wake up in the morning, bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, feeling like a million bucks. I start the day thinking “today’s the day Maria!” … “You’re going to be happy, not yell at your kids, and just enjoy the day” …
Everything is perfect. Goes great. Then I pick my girl up from Kindy, and the day declines.
She’s tired. My boy (younger than her), KNOWS this, and uses it to his advantage. He pisses her off something CHRONIC. Gets in her face. Takes her stuff. Blows raspberries at her. Yells at her. You name it, he does it. And all because he knows it pushes her buttons.
I am trying to teach her to ignore him, but it is easier said than done.
Of course my first port of call is to stop him from doing it, but I also need to teach my daughter coping mechanisms. Because there are going to be people like that in her life that she doesn’t like, and who annoy her. So I am trying to tell her, instead of screaming at him, to put her fingers in her ears and not listen to him.
Again, easier said than done.
So come 5pm, there are more than just a few screws loose in my head. And it’s not getting any better.
The combination of them yelling and screaming at each other inevitably becomes too much for me to handle, and I yell and scream and throw ultimatums around like they’re going out of fashion.
Then they go to bed, and the circle starts again the next day. SIGH.
Anyone else feel like that? Tell me i’m not alone!!!
