How Often Do You Change Your Sheets?

I took a poll the other day on my Instagram stories, asking how often people changed / washed their sheets.

The result genuinely surprised me. I imagined it would be a lot less frequent than it was – and perhaps thats because I don’t wash them as frequently as others.

The question was “how often do you wash your sheets”, and the results are:

Because of the amount of sweat, dirt, body oils and skin cells that leave our body during the night, we should change our sheets weekly.

Not only are there things from our own body on the sheets, but there are also dust mites which live, invisibly, on the bed.

So washing weekly, in the hottest water the bedding can stand, is the best thing you can do.

Obviously blankets, duvets, covers, etc don’t need to be washed as often, because they’re not directly on our skin each night. But if they are, then best to wash them more frequently too.

Also, if you or your kids sweat more than normal or if anyone has has allergies, or asthma, it may pay to wash more frequently as well.

How often do you change your sheets?

I have every intention of washing the sheets weekly but I’m lazy, and get easily distracted, so sometimes that stretches out to fortnightly. Sometimes longer – especially in winter.

I definitely fall into the “just whenever” category, but I have intentions to wash weekly haha

After researching (and I use the term loosely) for this blog, I feel like I will wash more frequently as all of that stuff sounds gross. And as much as its easier to say “ugh next week”, its nicer having fresh and clean sheets.
