My Top 10 Favourites From Amazon Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video is HERE! Finally! There are thousands of popular movies and TV series online, plus a lot of Prime Video originals. They also have a very comprehensive kids collection too – so the whole family is catered for!

2degrees has actually got a joining offer for new customers who sign up to a 12-month unlimited broadband plan – you’ll get 1 year of Amazon Prime Video included with your new plan, as well as a $200 joining credit.

For existing customers who are not on a contract, you can still qualify for the 1 year of Amazon Prime Video by simply signing up to a 12-month unlimited broadband plan.

I’ve had the privilege of being able to look through the Amazon Prime Video collection and watch a whole bunch of movies and shows.

Here are my top 10 favourites that I think you’d like too:

1. The Marvelous Mrs Maisel

Before I started watching Amazon Prime Video, quite a few people were talking about The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, so naturally it was first to be added to my list of things to watch.

It’s about a 1950’s housewife who is the perfect wife and mother, and is extremely supportive of her husband. However when their marriage breaks up, and she starts realising what’s happening and has a bit of a breakdown, she realises she might be good at standup comedy. I’m about 5 episodes in and it’s GOOD. Really good.

2. American Gods

My husband and I sat down to watch this after he saw an ad for it while he was away overseas. He came home, raved about what it looked like and we sat down and watched it.

Basically an ex-convict gets caught up in a war between the old gods and the new ones. It’s intense and a good watch. We both really loved it.

3. Last Flag Flying

One of the first movies I watched on Amazon Prime Video. I knew nothing about it, but the post had three heavy hitter actors in it – Steve Carell, Bryan Cranston, and Laurence Fishburne.

It’s a war veteran move, and personally wouldn’t normally be something I’d watch, but again it was the actors who attracted me to it.

It’s a bit of a sad one as one of the war veteran’s son’s has died in action, and he needs to go and retrieve his body. He gets his friends to come along and help him do it.

It’s a very moving movie and I definitely recommend it.

4. HANNA

The HANNA Prime Video series is based on the movie with the same title (also HANNA). I haven’t seen it yet, but am excited to watch it as I loved the movie.

Essentially a young girl is raised “to be a ruthless killer” by her adoptive Father, in the forest. She then has to run from the CIA who are after her.

It’s on my list – ADD IT TO YOURS!

5. The Only Living Boy In New York

I love me a good romantic movie and The Only Living Boy In New York jumped out at me straight away. It’s not a traditional romantic movie, it’s actually more of a drama.

About an aspiring writer who learns his father is having an affair with a younger woman. He tries to break up their relationship, so that his own mother isn’t hurt, but in the process finds himself attracted to this woman.

There’s a lot more to it than this, which is why I’ve added it to my list, and I can’t wait to watch it!

6. The Widow

I love Kate Beckinsale, and to be honest, what drew me to want to watch this series is 1) her, 2) the title and 3) the poster … sometimes it’s the simple things that get me!

Kate’s character is made a widow when her husband dies, but all is not what it seems as a few years later she thinks she sees him.

She goes on a journey to discover what really happened to him.

DEFINITELY SOMETHING I’D WATCH!

7. Django Unchained

I have seen this movie so many times and it is seriously one of the absolute BEST of the lot. The cast is star studded, and the story is intense.

Jaime Foxx plays a slave in the 1850’s, who’s wife is separated from him and he is sold. He goes on a quest to find her in the most Quentin Tarantino way.

It’s epic, and throughly enjoyable. My favourite character is the one played by Christoph Waltz.

Another to add to your list.

8. Parenthood

Possibly one of my favourite series ever – Parenthood is all about the Braverman family. From the Grandparents to the kids. It’s funny, sad, emotionally charged and so much more.

I highly recommend watching the WHOLE series from beginning to end.

9. Next

I don’t know about you, but I love me some Nicholas Cage. ANYTHING Nicholas Cage really has me going but the movie NEXT is one of the good ones.

It’s a science fiction movie where Nicholas Cage’s character can see 2 minutes into the future. It involves terrorists, nuclear weapons, women.

The plot is easy to follow, which is why I love it. Nothing better than sitting down and watching something easy.

10. Fleabag

Last but not least, Fleabag.

I have just started watching this but recently realised it’s actually 3 years old and I feel like I’ve been missing out!

The first season was released in 2016, and Fleabag is a British comedy series about a woman who runs a failing cafe. She’s single, her best friend has just died, and she’s just trying to get through life.

It’s HILARIOUS and she constantly breaks the fourth-wall by talking to the camera about anything and everything.

IT’S GENIUS!

These are just a few of my picks for us parents – but Amazon Prime Video has an extensive collection of kids movies and shows. From Hook, Rango, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to Paw Patrol, Dora, and Rescue Bots. Amazon Prime Video has you covered.

Don’t forget, 2degrees has actually got a joining offer for new customers who sign up to a 12-month unlimited broadband plan – they’ll get 1 year of Amazon Prime Video included with their plan, as well as a $200 joining credit.

For existing customers who are not on a contract, you can still qualify for the 1 year of Amazon Prime Video by simply signing up to a 12-month unlimited broadband plan.

Thank you to 2degrees for sponsoring this post and having this amazing deal!
