Want to know why I don’t do Elf on a Shelf? Because I’m too f’ing lazy. I also have zero creativity, and the motivation level of a sloth.
Have you seen those things though? They look creepy as f’k! The only one I’ve seen that is cute is the one Jordan from With The Whittakers has.
Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one on the internet who isn’t doing Elf On The Shelf …. Snapchat seems to be full of people setting it up each day for their kids.
I absolutely LOVE and APPLAUD every person who is able to change their Elf up every single day, and think of something creative to do with it. However that’s just not me.
I’m one of those Mums who starts something full force and then after a couple of days just can’t be bothered with it. I want to be better than that, but I’m not. So I figure “no point in starting something I know I’ll never finish”. If I decided to actually do it one year, my kids might expect it the following year, and the year after that, and that’s WAYY too much commitment for me.
Heck, sometimes I forget we have an Advent Calendar, and the kids have to remind me to get it.
Also, as I said above, I am not really a creative person. When I need to do something, I Google that shit. Or look on Pinterest. It’s just how I roll. There’s nothing wrong with that, as I’m pretty sure a lot of us get our inspiration from those two places (even the Elf on the Shelf ones) … but again, I’m just too lazy to do the search, write it down, plan it out … and then actually do it.
I don’t think my kids will suffer too much from not having this wee thing; and I want you to know that if you’re not doing it, your kids won’t suffer either.
