Movie Review: Boss Baby

Movie Review: Boss Baby

When I told my daughter that we were seeing Boss Baby, she was ridiculously excited. For starters, I didn’t even know she knew about this movie – she must have seen the trailer on YouTube so for some reason knew MORE than me about it!

Then this weird snowball effect started happening, where you talk about something once and then you see it a million times. We saw the Boss Baby image EVERYWHERE which just got Chloe more excited.

Thank you so so much to 20th Century Fox for our wonderful invitation! We both had a blast …

MY THOUGHTS:
Both Chloe and I loved it! I found it absolutely hilarious and laughed out loud several times. I always find the “laugh out loud” moment is a credible form of judgement. If I don’t LOL, then it’s not funny.

Alec Baldwin does an AMAZING job of being the baby; he is such an amazing voice actor! Jimmy Kimmel and Lisa Kudrow do the voices of the boy’s/baby’s parents and they do a great job. I picked Kimmel’s voice immediately, and Kudrow hit me middle of the movie: I was almost going to IMDB it because it bugged me that I didn’t know!

Chloe did get scared in some bits, but she was fine. She was really caught up in the moment and I love it that she was so into it.

Overall I thought the movie was pretty fantastic. The story line really hit a nerve with me as a parent, about feeling left out because of a new baby – something which I worried about when I had my second child. Worried my first would feel left out.

WILL YOU NEED TISSUES:
There are a couple of tear jerking moments but I sucked those bad boys right up because I was wearing mascara.

CHILD’S REVIEW:
Chloe enjoyed the movie but said ‘it was a little bit scary’. Her favourite scene was where the baby was vomiting.

DOES THE MOVIE FEEL TOO LONG:
I did feel it was a little too long, but Chloe didn’t. I didn’t hear a peep from her about “is it time to leave yet”. So her thoughts trump mine in this situation! The movie is 97 mins long, just FYI.

IS THERE ROMANCE INVOLVED:
No.

WHAT’S THE RATING:
G – Perfect for kids.

WOULD I BUY THE DVD:
Absolutely – it is definitely DVD worthy.

MY RATING:
4.5 / 5

MOVIE DETAILS:

Out in New Zealand Cinemas 13th April 2017. Perfectly timed for the School Holidays

As always, I highly recommend you seeing the movie for yourself and forming your own opinion on it. As human beings we all think differently and enjoy different things in life.
