Two kids in a hatch back, on a long road trip, can be a recipe for disaster; but not in the new Hyundai Santa Fe! After being given the 2018 Santa Fe to test drive for a whole MONTH, we put it through it’s paces and we were not disappointed.
The five cars I’ve owned in my life have all been small and have ranged from a 2 door mini, to a 5 door hatch back. My current car’s CD player is broken because our kids put something in it SMH. So we have to either listen to the radio, or use an external speaker to connect to my phone.
Being “comfortable” in my car, on a long trip (or even a short one), isn’t something I’m used to, and neither are the kids. “I’m too hot”, or “I’m too cold”, or “I’m bored are we there yet”. ALL THE WORDS, ALL THE TIME.
With the comfort and roominess of the new Hyundai Santa Fe, the backseat battles are FINALLY over! THANK GOODNESS!!
If you have been following me on Instagram (Happy Mum Happy Child), you will have seen the utter joy we have been having in this amazing beast. As a Mum, I’m not a technical reviewer of cars, but I do know what I like. So this review will be based on my own experience, and won’t be technical at all.
If you are interested in the Hyundai Santa Fe, I recommend checking out the Hyundai website, and definitely booking a test drive.
The first thing I noticed when I got into the Hyundai Santa Fe, was the cup holders. As ridiculous as it sounds, I appreciate a good cup holder, and the Santa Fe does not disappoint. There are two deep set ones in the front centre console, as well as one in each of the front doors. There are also 4 cup holders in the rear as well. That’s 8 cup holders altogether. YASSS.
The sound system is freaking amazing too. It is an Infinity 10 speaker premium audio system which includes subwoofer – trust me when I say it’s powerful. There’s also Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility – which means when you plug your phone in, the car’s audio system picks it up and you can play music direct from your phone or from Spotify.
The car has dual zone climate control air-conditioning with pollen filter, as well as 2nd and 3rd row air conditioning – ensuring everyone is kept cool / warm. PLUS there’s a freaking sun roof.
As you can well imagine, there is a huge difference in space between my hatch-back, and this 7 seater. That’s right – a 7 seater.
There are two seats in the front, three in the middle, and two pop up in the boot. There’s also a divider (with cup holders, oh yes) between the two main back seats – which is essentially a line between two warring parties. I love to keep a box of tissues here as well as some books, to keep the kids entertained.
The amount of space, and seats that the Santa Fe has, is amazing for long trips if the kids need a bit of space from each other, and also great if the kids have friends! We are a family of 4 – two kids. So having the optional extra seats right in the back really is perfect.
The boot is MASSIVE. We can fit all of the bikes plus extras in there, and there’s never an issue with seeing out the rear-view mirror (like in my current car).
The Hyundai Santa Fe is full of mind-blowing technology. Along with the impressive sound system, the other technological things this car can do, is amazing.
My favourites include the Heads Up Display, Smart Cruise Control, and Parking Assist. It’s such an absolute pleasure to drive this car with all of the additional technology helping me along.
Last, but certainly not least, are the safety features. With 6 airbags, smart cruise control and multiple cameras, I feel extremely safe in this vehicle.
You have the ability to activate the child safety locks from the front seat. There are also 3-point tether anchor points as well as ISOFIX anchor points.
When driving, the lane keeping assist feature, lane departure warning and blind spot warning come in handy! All can be seen on the heads-up display, which is yet another feature keeping me safe by not allowing my eyes to wander far from the road.
Seriously, there are so many amazing features about this car, and I could go on and on about it. I highly recommend checking out the Hyundai Santa Fe website, and if necessary book yourself a test drive to fully experience this mind-blowing vehicle.
I loved every single second being in the Hyundai Santa Fe, and the kids did too. They loved the space they had, and all extra cool things we got to experience. The backseat battles are definitely over with this amazing vehicle.
What do you think of the Hyundai Santa Fe?
