Movie Review: The Lego Batman Movie

Movie Review: The Lego Batman Movie

As a family, we were all invited to see this movie, however my husband and kids had a prior family event to go to. So I took one for the team and went by myself.

Will Arnett and Michael Keaton will FOREVER be Batman in my eyes …

MY THOUGHTS:
HILARIOUSLY funny. I laughed SO many times, out loud. And as you know – a genuine LOL is a way to judge a movie. Sometimes I felt like I was laughing at things no one else was laughing at.

The movie is obviously centred around Batman, and his journey with his lack of emotions and family. It’s set in Gotham City (as you would expect), so the entire movie is a lot darker than The Lego Movie is.

Loads of characters that you’ll recognise from The Lego Movie, and new ones like the Daleks, Voldemort even the Eye of Sauron makes an appearance! Jermaine Clement does this voice – see if you can pick it!

At the end, although I loved it, I was glad I didn’t take my 3 and 5 year old. I wasn’t sure if the darkness would get them a bit scared – but each child is different!

WILL YOU NEED TISSUES:
Only to wipe away the tears of laughter

CHILD’S REVIEW:
N/A unless I count as a big kid …

DOES THE MOVIE FEEL TOO LONG:
Nope, didn’t feel too long at all. The runtime is 104mins.

IS THERE ROMANCE INVOLVED:
A little, but in a humorous way.

WHAT’S THE RATING:
PG Violence

WOULD I BUY THE DVD:
Absolutely – it is definitely DVD worthy.

MY RATING:
5 / 5

MOVIE DETAILS:

Out in New Zealand Cinemas 6th April 2017.

As always, I highly recommend you seeing the movie for yourself and forming your own opinion on it. As human beings we all think differently and enjoy different things in life.
