Being a Mum in itself is difficult, so making sure your children get the best food they can, can often take the back-burner. Especially when you’re busy, or feeling rushed. This kid-friendly salmon pizza pairs an easy-to-make dough, with an amazingly nutritious topping (Sealord’s Salmon).

This pizza recipe is made from scratch, with no yeast is in the pizza base to make it as simple as possible. I also used Sealord’s Frozen Tasmanian Atlantic Salmon. Nutritionally dense, and somewhat of a superfood, salmon is a great source of Omega 3 and is incredibly versatile

Both of my kids absolutely LOVED this, and we will definitely be making it again.

Before starting the pizza, take Sealord’s frozen Salmon Pieces out of the freezer and defrost either on the bench, or in the microwave.  It won’t take very long.

Make sure you get your kids involved too!  It’s a great lesson for them to learn how to make a pizza.  Whether it’s the whole thing, or just adding the toppings (that’s the bit my kids LOVE to do).

PIZZA BASE (no yeast)
1 cup of self raising flour (I used gluten free, but you can use normal)
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon oil (I used olive oil)
1 cup water

PIZZA TOPPINGS
Sealord Salmon Pieces
1 teaspoon tomato paste
1/2 Onion (finely diced)
Grated Cheese
Cherry Tomatoes (sliced)
Cream Cheese
Or any other additional toppings as you see fit

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 200 degrees Celsius.  Mix the pizza base dry ingredients together.  Add 3/4 cup of water and oil.  Stir until it combines.  If the dough is stiff, add more water.  The dough should be soft, but not sticky.  Knead it on a floured surface for about 5 minutes (if you are using gluten free flour, you don’t need to do this).

Roll or push (using your knuckles) the dough into a circle – approx 1cm in thickness.  Either put the dough into a round dish (like in my pictures) or roll onto a piece of baking paper.

Next spread the tomato paste over the base, and then add the toppings in whatever order you want.  I put the Sealord Salmon Pieces on last, and I cut them up slightly smaller.  If you were making a large pizza for the whole family, then you could leave them as they were.

Cook in the oven for 15-20 minutes, making sure you keep an eye on it so it doesn’t overcook.

Sealord’s frozen salmon is Atlantic salmon from Tasmania.  This type of salmon has a delicate, mild flavour, and is less rich than other types of salmon on the market.  As I said above, salmon is a great source of Omega-3, and a bit of a superfood.

The great thing about Sealord’s salmon, is that it is frozen.  So you have the convenience of being able to keep it frozen until you need it, without compromising on the flavour.  I can tell you it was delicious.

You can find Sealord’s frozen salmon range in supermarkets now.
