Spring Themed Play Dough Activity

Inspired by the change of season, and desperate for something to do, I put this spring-themed play dough activity together. Basically you can do whatever you want with this, but keep the theme to do with Spring: talk about Spring and what it means. Get outside and pick flowers, and find leaves that are perhaps changing colour. Then come inside and have fun!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Play dough (my recipe is here)
Flowers
Shells
Popsicle sticks (or straws)
Colouring in pens
Cellotape
Flower & Leaf Printable

Spring Theme Activity 01

WHAT TO DO
As I said above, head outside and explore the area around your house and collect items such as leaves, flowers, stones – anything you think the kids might love to play with inside.

Next, put your collection together on the table and introduce the play dough (I used green to simulate grass) and then place the flowers in the play dough, and let the kids have fun setting it all up.

Print out this Flower Printable, and get your kids to colour in the flowers and leaves. Then using scissors, carefully cut out and stick to the popsicle sticks / straws.

Spring Themed Play Dough Activity

Talk about Springtime during this entire activity:

  • Many trees, flowers, plants and bulbs begin to grow during the Spring
  • Animals begin to shed their winter coats for the warmer weather
  • Many birds lay their eggs in the Spring
  • The weather can be a bit up and down in Spring as the seasons are changing between Winter and Summer
